This easy Beef Stew recipe might have some surprising ingredients like ketchup and cream of celery, but believe me it's delicious. Make it in the oven or the slow cooker. Either way, it's hearty and delicious.
In a 9x13 baking dish (for the oven method) or in the bowl of a 6-8 quart slow cooker, add the meat, onion soup mix, paprika, and salt. Toss until coated well.
Arrange potatoes, onions, and carrots on top of meat.
In a small bowl combine cream of celery and ketchup. Pour mixture over meat and vegetables (I know it sounds weird but it is good).
For the oven: Cover and bake for 2 hours @ 325 ℉. Slow Cooker Instructions: Prepare as directed above but cook in slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours or until potatoes are fork tender. Garnish with parsley if desired. My husband likes to eat the potatoes with sour cream.
